Frequently Asked Questions

NLP is Neuro Linguistic Programming. It is the science of understanding the structure of behaviour and using that understanding to create behavioural change.

The sense of self determines attitude. In other words what the person believes about himself and the world around him determines his attitude.

Attitude is neither right nor wrong. The outcome of the attitude determines if it is beneficial or not. We know that an attitude creates behaviour and behaviour generates a reaction or a response. If the response takes us closer to our goals then the attitude is beneficial. If it takes us away from our goals then we need to re-examine our attitude and change it.

Change can occur in nanoseconds. However it depends on the willingness of the person to change and/or the stimulus one is exposed to. Any behaviour can be changed with awareness. It is said that if you practice anything for 21 days, it becomes a habit. A habit is an unconscious behaviour.

Each behaviour provides a reward to the person generating it. A person with an angry disposition may not want people to approach him/her for anything. The underlying factor may be that s/he may not feel confident of his/her own self and may be suffering from low self esteem. In order to protect themselves from humiliation they may be persisting with their negative behaviour.

When the person becomes aware of the damage s/he is doing to herself/himself because of the negative behaviour. Most of the people who carry fear, negative thoughts, anger, hatred, jealousy or guilt are unaware of the damage they are causing to their mind and body. Once they are scientifically exposed to the extent of the havoc they are causing to themselves, most often than not they decide to change.

If the new behaviour continues to give better rewards than the one it has replaced the new behaviour will continue.

We need to understand that “We cannot control the world around us but we can only control our response to it”. It is a fact that if you change, then that change impacts your environment. Dr Wayne Dyer says “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change”.
It is important and prudent to realize that we need only to focus on ourselves because it is our behaviour which is causing a reaction in the opposite person. If we change, the response we receive will also change. The impact may not be immediate but will definitely change in the long run. If the salt in the sea decides to change its quality, eventually the sea will change.
